Overview
The owners sought to expand and reorganize the space in the back half of their home. The two-story addition built by SDI addressed several problems including poor traffic flow, a small family room with an adjacent laundry area, and inadequate storage space. SDI Project Goals
Create a seamless transition between new and existing space.
Enlarge kitchen and breakfast area.
Create a new, larger family area that opens onto a covered porch.
Add useful storage space.
Improve the upstairs master bedroom suite.

Finished Project
On the first floor, SDI created an expanded living area with adjoining kitchen, breakfast, and family room areas.
The laundry area was separated from the family area.
A covered porch with brick pavers replaced the back deck.
On the second floor, SDI created a new master bath with a cathedral ceiling and skylight.
Traffic flow from existing bedrooms to existing baths was redirected.
Much needed closet space was added.
Architectural themes were carried over from the existing structure to the addition.

Residence, Hampstead, NC

Overview
The customer came to SDI with architectural plans that would transform their 1950s ranch home into a Japanese-style home.

Work closely with architect and owners
Skillfully produce detailed architectural motifs.

Finished Project
The finished renovation featured many custom built and hand-crafted elements.
The porch hand rails were hand-carved and fitted with recessed lighting.
The walkways and driveway were hand-laid with stone in concrete.
A covered walkway was built around the entire home and windows were replaced with sliding glass doors.
